I could have quite happily given a list of my top 100 choices so the books I have listed all have a personal signifigance for me. I could have added Harrer's White Spider, most of what John Steinbeck has written and that is without touching Waugh, Conrad or Lawrence. It's nice to see Niven's Empty Horses on someone's list.
