Christian Songs For Non-Worship Use (last updated 3 September 2007)
This is a page dedicated to songs I have co-written that have little immediate relevance to worship (which was my initial source of inspiration). However, when you're a writer and come across a great set of lyrics, you simply have to write! I guess these songs would have to be broadly classified as CCM, although few of them were written with any objective of commercial use. They just are what they are, and don't aim to fit into any particular category. I hope you will enjoy them and find some of them as much a spiritual blessing as they have been for me. In all modesty I think some of them are really quite good. Michael Lehr Dazey Jane (another Janie Ivey collaboration. This is for those Christians still carrying around with them scars from the past) That's Enough (yet another collaboration with Janie Ivey. A song maybe for those dealing with depression, and that can be Christians too) What Shall I Do Today? (another collaboration with Janie Ivey. Nicely understated, I think, but still inspiring) Chance Left Behind (basically Benjamin Chapman's lyrics with a few adaptations. I thought kind of interesting in style) Mourning for America (A song from moving lyrics written by Michael Fortunato following the 9/11 tragedy. Sensitive but challenging as well) Hold Me,Baby (Another collaboration with Janie Ivey - in many ways it's a straight pop song, but it's also profoundly Christian) House Of Cards (A collaboration with Janie Ivey, based on some deep thoughts from C.S. Lewis) Standing On Faith (Jason Mitchener wrote the lyrics for this. I find them very powerful) My God Will Carry Me (Julie Kelly wrote the lyrics for this and sings on the recording. We both think it's a great song!) Runnin' Late (Tim Barber wrote most of the lyrics for this rather humorous but telling country song. They certainly strike a chord with me!)
