The 'Sherlock' has become a firm favourite in the Troop
as it can be adapted to suit any range of activities. This one is very
broad in scope and covers most Scouting skills.
The idea for the Sherlock came from playing a game called
221B Baker Street, It is a board game in which the players travel round
London getting cryptic clues about the circumstances surrounding the crime.
Similarly in this Sherlock, the Scouts 'travel' round
London getting cryptic clues, the only difference is that they must perform
tasks in order to get the clues.
In this game, there are ten places to visit and each
one has a different task to be done. The table below shows the skills tested
and the equipment required at each place.
This game was developed to be used at my Troop and so
some of the questions (marked with a *) will have to be changed. I have
included the original tasks so that they can be used as a basis for your
own tasks.
