CODES
The Codes Activity last around 45 minutes to an hour depending
upon luck and the abilities of the Patrols.
It consists of a range of codes and communication methods
listed here:-
-
Morse
-
Maritime Signalling Flags
-
Semaphore
-
Key Codes
-
BSL Finger Spelling
-
Different Fonts on a Computer (Wingdings)
The codes and the master sheets (with the exception of the
key code sheets) should be put around the hall. The Scouts then dash around
trying to decypher the phrases in order to complete all ten first.
Unfortunately it is a bit long to fully display here so
please download the zipped version and check it out.
-
The activity is relatively easy to run, just do the following:-
-
Print everything out
-
Pin them up around the hall (try to put codes and master
sheets well apart)
-
Sit back and drink coffee (or tea or coke or whatever)
-
When a Scout comes up with an answer mark it up in the sheet
-
Once a Patrol has correctly guessed all ten then the activity
ends. Scores should be assigned according to the number of correctly guessed
clues.
-
That's it
The key codes are the hardest part and most of the patrols
will need to be helped so about halfway in
