Camp 1998
Pioneering

The three major pioneering projects at camp were: a tower, a jetty and a catapult.

The Baywatch Tower

The Tower was partially built on land and consisted of two trestles which were towed out into the loch and leaned in towards each other and the lashed together to make it look as if the tower consisted of four trestles, on on each side.
Once the sides were complete the top was finished by racking logs across it.

The Jetty

The Jetty was simply a matter to lashing three poles together and stretching them out to a trestle in the water and another set of lashed poles to the tower.

The Catapult

The Catapult was a semi success. It was big and very sturdy, powered by plaited strands cut from car inner tubes, it could launch an apple with sufficient force to stun an earthworm a few feet away.
It couldn't fire very far! But it looked good.
