Burry Port to Kidwelly (Eight mile beach, Country Park, forest and plain)
Plenty of car parking at Burry Port harbour with maximum stay of four hours. NB Cheapest on eastern side (04/05). Two ways on from here | Perhaps my favourite stretch of all with much attention to detail
Lots of timber and stone. Note the cyclist-friendly booths and stabilised track | Decision time again A diversion to Cefn Sidan beach well worth it, or a detour though the Country Park
Large image to download but will give lots of info about what the Country Park has to offer. | Cefn Sidan beach looking South. Photos taken mid-morning Bank Holiday Sunday.
Cefn Sidan beach looking NW. It stretches for eight miles. Go abroad for the beaches? You must be joking! | There is a Caravan Club site adjacent to the Country Park after which you are back on route as it skirts the Country Park. Surface rough in parts but OK
Once out of the forest, you join a network of concrete based lanes. WW2 perhaps. Keep an eye out for the direction signs on gate posts. | Last couple of miles in open country on embankment. Not so much dodge the potholes as dodge the cow pats ! |
