The SCART video connector, or Peritel as it is sometimes
known as, was devised as convenient method by which any piece of video
equipment could be interfaced to any other piece of video equipment.
Scart has become an industry standard connecting monitors, camcorders,
videos, mixing desks etc. Although the SCART connector has become the industry
standard there were some manufacturers who although using the connector
did not use the suggested standard pinouts.
