What an extraordinary man! One cannot help but be impressed by his energy, enthusiam and humanity. Of coures, his pictures are outstanding. No photograph can reproduce the depth and detail. David was very approachable and I enjoyed photographing him immensely. He lives and works in a beautiful farmhouse near Godalming and this portrait was taken in the gallery of his private collection  based there. He has had the most extraordinary life and has written a number of books detailing his experiences. I got the feeling that given the time, David Shepherd could have written a half dozen more and still had plenty left  to say. I was delighted when he agreed to sign a copy of one of the books for me. He has a major exhibition comig up next year - don't miss it!
