This is Morag Barton, the director of Breooklands Museum, on the site of the old Brooklands racetrack in Weybridge. When I was about 10 years old, I remember going on a days outing to Longleat. Sitting next to my father on the train I saw the great inclined race track of Brooklands rushing past. He and gave me a potted history of the place.  I think it was the first time he too had laid eyes on this historic site. 22 years later, Brooklands is rejeuvenated thanks to Morag who in was recently recodnized by Classic Car magazine for her efforts. Quite right, too. Now my kids can visit her musuem and touch and smell the place that was just a glimpse of dereliction for me.
