Father Christmas with his elves Extract from a letter from the president to all who helped:
Dear all who acted as Father Christmas & All collectors at our Christmas Sleigh,
Our club is proud of and grateful to you for your efforts, team spirit and organising skills to raise such a grand sum of £2527.00
My special thanks to Tim Garner as the organiser of this fund raising event during the Festive season. It wouldn't be so successful without his sacrifice in materials and time.
In the photo from left: Mike Humphrey, Tim Garner, the organiser as Father Christmas on Sunday (18.12.11) and Rotaract Hazel Cottrell, who gave many hours (over 10 hours as I understand) at the Tesco Extra static collection. A very special thanks to Hazel.

A very Merry Christmas & Happy 2012 to you all.

District Govenor's visit 20th October 2011
The Rotary Club of Huntingdon was honoured by a visit from The first lady District Governor of the Rotary area covering the East Midlands-Rotarian Linda May.
Linda gave us an excellent speech outling the Rotary motto for 2011/2012. "Reach Within To Embrace Humanity".
The main theme of the talk was Polio Immunisation in the Third World and the hope that every Rotarian would raise at least £25 towards the final part of Polio Eradication. "We are so close to ridding the world of this terrible disease, one final push and we will be there", said Linda.
Another project under consideration is "Clean The Community", where Rotarians would encourage local communities to adopt a street for cleaning.

Whitechapel Mission 16th October 2011
Early on Sunday morning 16th October a party of Huntingdon Rotarians travelled to the Whitechapel Mission in the East End of London and cooked 230 Breakfasts for some of the poor and homeless people of the Capital.
Below is the E- Mail of appreciation received from the Mission, together with a photograph, showing Rotarian Geoff Burniston and Mary Walmsley cooking.
"May I thank you most sincerely for the splendid response that the members of the Huntingdon Rotary Club gave to the homeless and those caught in a cycle of poverty or dependency of many kinds and who look to The Whitechapel Mission for help and support each and every day.
To those who endured the early start and the diversion due to the closure of the M11 there must go a special "thank you" - your enthusiasm when you were there was felt by those you served, well epitomised by Tarak frying eggs for all he was worth. In addition we had Geoff and Barbara buttering loaves of bread and toasting many more, Ken cooking the sausages and bacon, Mary frying beefburgers and Mike on the till (did I really hear him say he was in charge of credit control?) and everyone serving teas, coffees and giving out soap, flannels, toothbrushes, razors etc. Then at the end there was everything to clean down and leave ready for the Monday morning team to come in and start the process again.
To those also who collected all the items of clothing and toiletries a "thank you" also. The amount of clothing needed on an average every day would fill a normal sized garden shed, such are the numbers coming to The Whitechapel Mission in need of a change of clothing, so what you brought was most timely.
Through the response you have all made, you have helped the staff at The Whitechapel Mission make a difference to some of the most needy people in this country, so on their behalf may I say once again a simple but sincere "Thank You"".

RYLA JULY 2011
On Sunday afternoon (31st July) I attended the Rotarians' Open Time at Grafham Water. Also present was President Tarak, PP Colin Moore and Rtn. Malcolm Talbot, Inner Wheel President Janet and their house guest Nazaret, an English Language student.
It was a warm, sunny afternoon and we were welcomed by DG Margaret Morley, PDG Andrew Cowling and the course leader. They gave a short introduction and then we enjoyed afternoon tea and cake while waiting for the candidates to come onshore.
We had half an hour allocated, this year, with our candidate Sophie Bulstrode. She seemed to being enjoying the experience and 'liked' the overnight hike which started the course. In fact, all the candidates seemed to be enjoying themselves. It certainly gave the visiting Rotarians plenty of time with their candidates before the group 'photo-call'. Report by: PP Alan Kerrison

Schools in Huntingdonshire competed in the Technology Tournament organised by the Rotary Club of Huntingdon and hosted by the Abbey College in Ramsey on Wednesday 9th February. Teams from St Neots Community College, St Ivo School, Kimbolton School, St Peters School and Abbey College entered a total of 19 teams, each of 4 students. They were provided with a kit of parts such as wooden rods, motors and pulleys with which they were asked to build a mobile crane. The students had no prior knowledge of the task which they were presented with and were expected to design the machine, build it and then demonstrate it to the judges within the 5 hour time limit.
Gp. Capt. Walcot answered various questions on the impact of the RAF reorganisation on the local community. The picture shows Gp. Capt. Bea Walcot with the Rotary President Ann Looker and the duty Rotarian Ken Walmsley.
Rotary Technology Tournament
The students applied themselves enthusiastically to the task and managed to produce a number of ingenious designs to meet the requirement. The full age range from the secondary schools was represented with the task being tailored to the capabilities of each team. The basic category covered school years 7, 8 and 9 and was won by Kimbolton School, while the St Ivo School won the intermediate category for years 10 & 11. Teams from the sixth forms competed in the advanced category and this was again won by Kimbolton School. The prizes were presented by Chris Eady, a Director of the Welding Institute, with each of the winning teams receiving a cheque for £25 and an engraved glass trophy donated by Graham Heywood, MD of Computer Miracle Ltd. It was evident that all of the participants thoroughly enjoyed the event and felt that it provided an excellent exercise in running a project, as a team, under demanding conditions.
The winning teams were:
