Now the Christmas period is over, and your looking a little bloated, it’s time to loose some fat. First of all it’s important to know what fat is. Most people are ignorant of the basic facts and principles. Fat is a slimy, white wobbly sort of stuff, that makes you look, well, fat.
Fat is also stored energy, any caloric excess will be stored as fat. The important factor to watch out for is Calories),not necessarily Fat content. The reason why we should keep fat down in our diets is because it contains loads of Calories, 9 per gram. Where as Carbs and Protein only contain 4 Calories per gram. So basically you can get fat on anything, Low/fat high carb diet, even Low fat/high protein diet, if your not burning off all of the calories you consume.
FAT LOSS = DECREASING CALORIC INTAKE + INCREASING ACTIVITY (Thermatogenesis)
Fat loss is achieved through your diet, not dieting. If you starve your self, as most people who are too fat seem to do,. your body will try to claim back energy by stripping it from muscle tissue before it eats into your fat deposits. It also slows down your metabolism. So don’t do it.
Make sure the calories you consume are of a good quality and not ‘Empty calories’. Increase your protein intake and decrease your Fat intake to around 10%.
Also increase your Activity, which means Aerobic exercise. Doing loads of sit-ups is an Aerobic exercise, but don’t neglect the bike, rowing machine or stepper.
There are drugs and supplements around that can also help. Most of these utilise the principle of Thermatogenesis, which means raising your body temperature.(remember Calories are a measure of heat).
