G50   2 THESSALONIANS

Whereas the second letter to the Thessalonian church begins (as the former) with commendation, it soon becomes apparent from the fiery language that the church is suffering persecution and hardship. St. Paul reminds his readers that, as he explained in IThessalonians, the "Day of the Lord" is coming with vengeance.

This letter was intended as a word of encouragement and consolation to those who were suffering and looking forward to their vindication.

Having unburdened himself of the predictions of imminent destruction of the powers of darkness and violence, the Apostle renews his praise and encouragement of the church.
2Thess.2.vv.13-17

The Apostle closes with a plea to the church to be steadfast in the faith and to live blameless lives.
