As its name suggests, this book abounds in lists and genealogies as it recapitulates the early history of Israel contained in the books of Samuel and Kings and, historically speaking, adds nothing of value to the former accounts.
When, however, we reach Chapter 16 we have, in addition to passages
of praise, singing and dancing, a splendid introduction to the
Book of Psalms. Here are to be found excerpts from Psalms
96, 105 and 106, praising God for all his wondrous gifts, his
steadfast covenant with His people and His loving care.
I Chronicles 16.vv.8-36
The book closes with the end of David's reign, to whom is attributed
a lovely passage of thanksgiving, blessing and dedication to God.
I Chronicles 29.vv.10-20
