Hello folks just a line to let you know I should be back playing this year (if my nads hold out lol)
I will try to make a few training dates [b4] Christmas but it's a bit hard with the next six weeks or so being a bit hectic at work but after Xmas I will be back at it, I've not posted the whole time I've been away and didn't get to many of the games last season, all I can say is that it ain't easy standing and watching all your best friends play when you're on the sideline being as much use as a pair of left handed scissors (sorry if that offended any left handed devil children).
But am looking forward to getting back to business with the Sunday family.
Sounds like we can watch plenty of those vampire monkeys with guns films on the road trips down south.....

Hallo Lads, just letting myself settle a bit after Sunday's fantastic result, I can't remember a game where I was filled with so much pride for my team mates and everyone associated with the club. It's been a long time coming....too long a time coming in fact!
I'd like to dedicate last Sunday to all the players who've played against the bulls in the past, and particularly to the following, in no particular order, Sean Riley, Gary "Bear" McNaughton, Dave Cloke, Ian "Sellick" Atkinson, Peter Turnbull, Gary "Holding ref" Townsend, Paul "Rosey" Rose, Dave Lee, Eric "Buzzard" Walker, Mark "Polly" Pollard, Graeme "Frank Sidebottom" Norris, Jason Lester, Kev Elgie, Dave Lee, Terry Scott, Carl "Charlie" Hadaway, and anyone else whoever played O-line and wasn't there to play on Sunday.
I expect an awful lot of those names will mean nothing to many people viewing this, these are the heroes who donned the pads to put their bodies on the line on every play, these are the players that no one quite remembers in the awards and MVPs, these are the Offensive Lineman that in my memory have served our club.
Sunday for me was as good if not better than winning the championship in '99 it was one of the best Defensive displays I think I've ever seen, with some of the most devastating hits in my memory, it's true what they say, "Offense wins games, Defense wins Championships". I was very, very emotional on Sunday but anyone who knows me knows how much beating the Bulls has meant to me and the rest of the "old school", let's make it a regular occurrence from now on!! We are only 60 minutes of football away from a trip to "The Show", Let's keep up the intensity and show the south that it's the north's time to rise again.

Guys,
I just want to congratulate everyone connected with the Club on what was a great job yesterday!
Coaches, Players, backroom staff and the junior/youth players all contributed to the day.
I think it was am awesome display from the 'D' that set us on the way and both 'O' and Special Teams responded to put together a complete performance that gave us the win.
That was a very good Bulls side that we beat, they still have one of the best 'D's' in the league and an offense that can move the ball on most people.
It's been a while coming, and when I think of all the great players we have had in the past who have never beaten the Bulls, then I would like to think that they will have been as pleased as we were at the final whistle. I know Stevie Woot was!!
Our first Division 1 North title; built on the back of a strong Senators 'D' which has always been the backbone of past success, complimented by a well balanced 'O' and good special teams play!
We have to get ready for a home semi-final and whoever we play they are in for a tough game of that I'm sure.
The only downside to the day was the injury to Rich Green and I know we all send our best wishes to him for a speedy recovery!
Well done guys!

Dear football coach or administrator, this is Coach Volpi. I am a football coach who coached football in Europe for many years. This year, I will be coaching at Santa Barbara City College.
City college football rules are a little bit different from Division I and II institutions, so there are easier opportunities for European players to get an experience in football and at the same time, study in an American institution.
Santa Barbara is probably the best place in California to live and play football. The practice field is next to the beach an a temperate weather.
Our coaching staff is one of the best. We play a spread offense and a very aggressive defense.
At this moment, we have a German, a Swedish, and an Australian football player. They are here and they are having a lot of fun practising. They all are top players in their countries, and they will have a good chance to play next season.
If you have players interested to experience and play College football in the US, let me know and I will be happy to help them.
Contact me by email or call me at the number below, and I will help you answer any question you have. We are looking for offensive and defensive linemen, but I will help everybody who wants to play and experience football in the United States.
Go on see our football practice field and the football website http://www.sbcc.edu/football/gallery/

I'd just like to back up Coach Sloan's comments; the Juniors did a great job on a very hot day and were given an 'honourable mention' in the MVP report on the bus on the way home.
Great job by the 'D', you can consider that a shutout as the Pirates scores came on a kick return and a pick following a ball that bounced up into the air off Dunc's pads. That's not taking anything away from EKP who played their usual brand of hard nosed football and were missing their starting QB. They have some great young athletes who will contribute well as the season progresses.
Our 'O' played in fits and starts but got the job done behind some great play from the 'O' Line and outstanding plays from Rich & Dunc. This was backed up by every offensive player who dug deep to get this win!
Well done to everyone, especially the well deserved MVPs!!

Gary You are right, I have voted in the HoF every year since it started. Think it gives old players the ability to remember the old days. I was fortunate to play on the very first Senators' game and the HoF brings fond memories of that time and the player who called friend. Think there have to be criteria or you get too many nominations. Pity the criteria keep me out of the nominations.

Thanks for clearing that up, just wanted to double check in case anyone else was unsure.
Another point I would make is, unless it causes problems with the site (server space, extra work for yourself etc.) I think its nice that more than one person is able to shared their opinions why anyone deserves the great honour of being nominated.
We all have different reasons/stories why we feel these great players have earned the right of inclusion into the HOF.
(Obviously it would help if certain people kept their posting short - Doh!!)
Thanks, Mark 'its all about respect' Hume.

Guys,
I agree with everything that's been said already, but, it's already in the rules for voting - check out the criteria, it says club members (i.e. the present squad) and past members in good standing(i.e. the 'old boys')can vote. In the past we have had votes from many past players and long may it continue! I think that Terry Treloar for one, has voted for nominees as a past member!
Stevie, I certainly haven't forgotten Boz, I think about you both every time my shoulder aches!!!

Humey has a good point ....the likes of Steve Hedley & Will OL.....Boz ,Neil Atkinson, Ordy, Dinky and Nigel Rodem on "D" are some of the many "forgotten" players most present Senators do not know. The team might not be here now without them.

As a current member of the team, I agree 100% with Humey's suggestion, looking at the current list of nominees, I have played with a few but heard about all of them, that can't be said about 90% of the current team so to ensure those that deserve the honour of being inducted into the "Senators Hall of Fame" do so, the voting rights needs to be changed.

Is there anyway that the Hall Of Fame voting criteria could be amended to allow former club members to vote?
There isn't many people left at Gateshead that would have had the honour & privilege of seeing the current nominees in action.
I think all nominees should have the same chance of making it into the HOF.
If only current members are allowed to vote the ex-players that pre date the current squad will be overlooked. Also I would like vote!!
Just my opinion, but I think it is a valid one.

All the boys in Darlo (Me, Big Kev, Adam, Bear, Wez & Terror) wish David a speedy recovery and I know he will be back on the sideline before long, hopefully doing a bit of coaching!
As we now have loads of Juniors someone will have to show them how to make a diving catch or roll out in a way that gets someone to take a photo of them! There are some big juniors David a few with feet big enough for you to nick their boots. Ha ha! Get well and get back soon.

Hunter,
Thanks for your interest in trying out for the Senators.
We are always on the look out for players who can improve our team on all sides of the ball! The best thing to do is contact me again when you are settled in Newcastle(?) and we would be delighted to see you at one of our training sessions.
The season starts in April and runs through 'till the Bowl games in September. Keep an eye on the Senators' web site for more details of our fixtures etc. in the next week or so.
I look forward to meeting you in the near future.

Hi Guys,
I am due to move to the UK to take up a position with Sage in Newcastle. However I dont arrive until the end of February. I notice you guys are having tryouts prior to this date, would I be able to tryout then?
I graduated from Troy last year, I played Linebacker for the Trojans #48, Im 59, 221 pounds and have a 4.2 40.
I am still in great shape and would love to carry on playing ball, I was made aware of the Senators by a friend of a friend who went to College with Larry Mann.
Can you also let me know who I should contact reference trying out when I move to Newcastle if that is still possible.
Hopefully see you guys soon, go Senators
