Dear Friends
Holy Week and Easter Day fall within the month of March, the eight days central to the Christian celebration of Good News. Our worship will mostly take the form established last year, and forms a contimuum from Palm Sunday, through Maundy Thursday to Good Friday and Easter, so I would encourage you to come, if at all possible, to the main services on all of these days so as to be immersed in the story of what God has wrought for us in Jesus Christ.
That the almighty God upon whom the universe rests has given himself to us and suffered death at our hands for love of us is the heart of the Good News, and that this love is stronger than death is the best news of all. We celebrate all of this in every single Holy Communion, but to do it in the context of the readings describing the events and in the timescale of their happening brings home to us the reality of it all and enables us to experience the real joy of new life, which nature seems to share with us in the northern hemisphere as everything returns to life in springtime.
As he prepares to take up office, Bishop John has asked for our prayers. To help us with this the following prayer is being sent to all churches.
God of all ages, God of new beginnings;
Anoint your servant John with your Holy Spirit and bless him as he comes among us as a pastor to care for us as a leader to shepherd us as a priest to guide us deeper into holiness
Fan into flame the gifts of your grace; that we your people may with true humility be faithful in witness, active in service, and joyful in your praise; through Christ our Lord
Amen
Following the austerity of the season of Lent it will be a lovely to see the Church ablaze with fresh flowers at our Easter services.
As is the custom a plate will be placed at the back of Church for donations towards our Easter Flowers.
Offers of help to decorate the Church will be gratefully received. Please contact Joan Dyke or Ann Bennett.
If you would like to receive Holy Communion this Easter but are unable to attend services through illness or infirmity please do speak to the Vicar or Sonia to make arrangements for Holy Communion at home.
A reminder to all members of the Church that the Church Electoral Roll will need to be completely revised prior to the Annual Parochial Meeting in April.
Forms are being distributed to those on the current Roll. Additional forms are available at the back of Church for parishioners who wish to be entered onto the new Electoral Roll.
Conditions of elegibility are printed on the form.
Dave MerchantThose attending the annual Pancake Party in the Priory Church Hall were first treated to a choice of vegetable, broccoli and stilton or chicken & sweetcorn soup with fresh bread rolls. This was followed by traditional pancakes with a choice of savoury fillings cooked by Margaret Flegg & Jane Thompson and served by members of the social committee. During coffee members of the Pathfinders provided entertainment.
During December we rang for the service on Christmas Eve and then again for the morning service on Christmas day. We sincerely hope you all had a Happy Christmas & New Year and enjoyed Daphne's poem.
During January the ringers held their annual dinner that all enjoyed. Daphne has again put pen to paper and produced a poem for Easter.
"Christ is risen!" ring the hells On Easter Sunday Morning, And from the darkness of the tomb A bright new day is dawning. Gone are the shadows of the night That in the darkness haunt us. Christ's resurrection sets us free, And nothing more should daunt us. Within each "tomb" of seed and shell The power of life is surging; And nurtured by the sun and rain That life is now emerging. So too, at times, our fellow man Needs nurture for his heart. A friendly word, a kindly deed Will sometimes be the start. So when on Easter Sunday You hear the church bells ring, Let's thank the Lord for blessings given And promises of Spring.Daphne Willson 2002

I like fruit salad very much but only four tablespoons of Cointreau ????..(hic!)......... Dave
This sweet should be made the day before and left overnight in the fridge. Ingredients.
Drain crushed pineapple, slice bananas, de-seed grapes and cut in half and put all the fruit into a bowl, add the Cointreau and mix. Whip double cream until stiff not solid, drain yogurt, and carefully mix with cream using a spoon, cover fruit with this mixture.
Sprinkle Demerara sugar over the cream until covered; this will give a brulee effect when placed in fridge overnight.
We commend to God's keeping:
