Prayer GroupsPraying for the world's needs in Deeping St JamesIn addition to the public prayers included in our daily and Sunday services, we have three prayer groups which meet in people's homes in the parish to pray for the needs of the world, and especially of those who suffer. One meets in the evening once per month, but is suspended temporarily at present. An announcement of its restart willbe made soon. Another meets fortnightly on Thursdays at 10:30 in different homes. Dates for this group are as follows:
A third group now meets weekly on Wednesday evenings at 19:45 at 45 Crowson Way. New members and visitors are always welcome at these groups, and subjects for prayer can be left on a board in church or e-mailed to the Vicar or Reader. Church Ladies' FellowshipMeets alternate Thursday evenings in the Church Hall, with a break for the summer. See Priory News for details. Bible Study GroupsApplying God's Word to our livesOur prayer groups study the Bible to some extent, and, of course, the Bible is read and preached in our church services. We also have a Bible Study Group which meets on Friday mornings at 10 o'clock at the Vicarage for about an hour. In the context of prayer and over a cup of coffee, the members work through a chosen book of the Bible and try to apply its teaching to the world, the church and their own lives. New members of the group are always welcome (and if we get too many we can always start another group!). Enquiries to the Vicar, please. Children's and Youth GroupsChildren 3-11Young people 11-18The Bell RingersThere are six bells in the tower of The Priory Church. These are rung for Sunday Morning services on a regular basis and for other special events and services as requested. We have a lively band of some ten ringers, some at the beginners stage and others who have rung for many years. Apart from the ringing aspect we also hold other social activities outside the tower. We hold an annual barbeque and dinner as well as trips out for other functions. We are always pleased to see new faces, whether you can ring or not. Complete novices are trained in the safe handling of our bell ropes. Our practice night is on a Friday at 7.30 |
