The first two verses of this song came to me rapidly as I was driving home alongside the river on a lovely early summer day. The fresh green foliage on the tall trees was absolutely stunning

I initially thought of this as a children's hymn, but it was pointed out to me that the range would be too great for general children's use (almost certainly true), and I now think it's more for a trained children's choir. It's a pity, but one must be realistic.

Lyrics (by Michael Lehr)

Well, I talked to the trees as I walked by the river,
and I asked them aloud what they thought of the giver
of the life that they possessed, for I really was impressed
how they all displayed the glory of the Father.

But they said not a word, only silence could be heard,
(No, they said not a word, only silence could be heard),
but they held their branches high as they reached up to the sky.
and they all displayed the glory of the Father.

Well, I gazed at the flowers as I stood in my garden,
and I asked them politely, just begging their pardon,
but I wanted so to know if they knew who made them grow,
for they all displayed the glory of the Father.

But they said not a word, only silence could be heard,
(No, they said not a word, only silence could be heard),
but they nodded and they swayed; what a lovely sight they made
as they all displayed the glory of the Father.

If there's one thing we love it's a puppy or kitten:
just one look in their eyes and we're totally smitten.
For their playfulness and fun bring a smile to everyone,
and they all display the glory of the Father.

Though they say not a word, still they make their voices heard.
(Though they say not a word, still they make their voices heard).
As they bark and they miaow, they are telling us somehow
that we all display the glory of the Father.

With such joy to be found we should love one another;
Ev'ry person on earth should be sister and brother.
It's so very plain to see that's the way we're meant to be,
for we all display the glory of the Father.

Let our song ring out clear so that everyone can hear.
(Let our song ring out clear so that everyone can hear).
For each tree or flower or child, ev'ry creature tame or wild,
we should all display the glory of the Father.

I used "we" rather than "I" in the third verse as a lead in to the more general final verse, but others have preferred to stay in the first person. I don't mind either way.
