4th Elgin Boys' Brigade
The 4th Elgin is one of only two remaining company's of five formed in Elgin,
Moray on the 10th of December 1937. With over 50 boys and 9 staff members,
a strong company has survived enjoying many honours. During recent years
awards to 4th Elgin boys at national level include many Queen's and President's
badges as well as Silver and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme medals.
In April 97, within five years of forming, the band achieved
extraordinary
success at Hamilton Town Hall coming 1st in the 1997 Scottish National
Band Competition, Contest Class. Band members now perform sponsored
band practices to raise funds so that they may continue to enter this annual
competition.
In November 1997, just for fun, the 4th Elgin boys enjoyed a long weekend
running the company's own 30 feet long model railway at Elgin Modelfair
in what was it's last public appearance. The railway is now a permanently
housed within the hall for the boys to improve.
In April 98 the boys travelled to Musselburgh for the Championship
Class Band Competition, played well and finished respectably in Third place.
April 99 saw them at the same venue coming Third yet again.
There is now a newer, younger band learning, preparing and keen to compete as soon as
they are ready.
At Battalion level the boys are enthusiastic competitors regularly
bringing home the silverware from many sporting and Bible essay competitions.
