Some of our musical friends
- The Eunice Bobcats,
the finest new cajun band in Manchester, featuring
Zabumba's Steve on guitar and vocals. Get to see them if
you can.
- The Boat Band are an
ever-changing and ever-challenging multi-talented band
playing the best cajun and zydeco music around. Their
leader, Greg Stephens, was involved in the early UK
street music/street theatre scene when samba, merengue
and other exotic world musics were first heard in the
streets of Britain.
- The Kitchen Girls are an Appalachian-inspired
all-fiddle dance band featuring ex-Zabumba percussionist
Judi on fiddle and vocals. Hi Judi!
- Steamhead. A
fantastic band for ceilidhs, weddings and parties.
Zabumba's Dave plays baritone and soprano sax and
percussion, and he's joined by Big Al on clarinet, Pam on
tea-chest, vocals and percussion, Malcolm on banjo and
Bob (ex-Zabumbista from years back) or Gavin on
accordion. More often than not, there a guest artist or
two (including me sometimes), not to mention half the pub
when things get going. Catch them at Big Lock during the Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival.
- The Middlewich Paddies are a great bunch of guys who
sing and play Dubliners-style. We keep bumping into them
at various gigs and festivals. Richard and Dave from the
the Paddies were instrumental in starting the Middlewich
Folk and Boat Festival six years ago. It's a really warm
and friendly event, and we're looking forward to seeing
them there again this year.
