Technics Canada Forum ===================== Posted by Jimmy on April 17, 1997 at 07:13:14: : : I went into a shop, and asked about the upgrades for the : : wsa1, and they rang up and said the output expansion : : board is availible, but the wave expansion boards were : : never actually made by technics. They decided not to : : . Is this true?... : : BTW. Found out how to access more characters than wsa : : allows. Means you can use stars and quavers and stuff : : in your patch names. Posted by Bruce on April 25, 1997 at 07:57:57: : Hi Jimmy, : I think the reason the wave expansion boards were not : manufactured is that the WSAI never made a splash in the : Pro-Audio market as was hoped. Keyboard magazine gave the : WSA1 a polite thumbs down and a lot of people who see these : writers as gurus, took their word for it. Technics dropped : the price but that didn't help too much. I think that : Technics is in the process of revising theirs sales and : marketing strategies. Maybe they'll have their people go : around to the various high visibility retailers and hold : live demos to show people what the WSAI can really do. In : the meantime, I think they're being cautious. That may be : why they haven't produced any of the wave expansion boards- : If they can't make a decent profit on the the WSA1 because : it isn't selling well, then they probably won't invest any : money in the expansion boards. I suspect that if the new : marketing strategies fail, Technics will probably discontinue : production of the WSA1 alltogether. Posted by Bruce on April 25, 1997 at 11:01:24: :P.S. I stand corrected. I talked to the Technics people in .the U.S. and was told that a wave expansion board was available. The part number for the board is SY-EW. It's basically a five section Dance Card with bass patterns and drum loops. I couldn't get a price from them but at least you have a Part No.that your dealer can get a price on. ===================================================================== Posted by Sedat Yakisir on May 02, 1997 at 05:34:05: In Reply to: Re: WSA1 Upgrade posted by Jon Anderson on April 04, 1997 at 06:39:20: : : : I recently bought this machine at a bargin price. : : : The alternatives I found had half the features of : : : the wsa1 and for more. Itīs implementation in to the WSA is quite simple you have to do nothing else just hearing the new sounds and loops in a new ROM place. Product: SY-EWS1 Type: ROM Expansion Board for the Technics WSA1x Price: SY-EWS1 including a Floppy Disk with aditional sounds is 450.- DeutschMark My Dealer: Musicstore cologne Phone: 049-221-925791 -10 through 13 hope this helps you, regards Sedat
