Oak has been the traditional choice for wood-carvers for many centuries in the UK - although hard, it is beautiful to carve, and is extremely long-lasting. This abstract was named after completion - the form seemed to me to suggest the capacity of shown by many cities to regenerate after devastation by some major calamity, either natural and man-made.
A movie (~350Kb) is available for this sculpture which gives a better three-dimensional impression.
