Now here's a question we frequently ask!
Anyone know the significance of the registration plate (SYD 938) on the Morris Minor car in this painting?

The painting's called "Morris Dancing" and is by James Grainger*.

When questioned about the number plate, the artist is enigmatic:
"The Morris Minor Society held a competition back in 1986 to try
and locate the actual car. Naturally it would spoil all the fun
to reveal the true significance!"

(* James M Grainger - "Paintings of an essentially British and slightly eccentric nature" - is a British artist, who specialises in oil paintings of Vicars and Morris Dancers in curious and surreal situations, some of them involving rhubarb.)
