wife, Barbara, runs The Busy Bee Bookshop in Jamestown.
A range of tours is on offer as below:-
Magma Tour A.
A Historical Walk around Jamestown.
An introduction to the history of Lower Jamestown including visits to
the Castle, St.James Church, and the Court. The walk is conducted by an islander. The tour also includes tea at Wellington House and a visit to the local museum. The duration
of the tour is 2 hours.
Magma Tour B.
High Banks Farm Area.
An inland walk conducted by a local farmer along one of the central
ridges of the Island. Visits to the organic local production of beef, honey and cosmetics are included. There is also a visit to
an old flax mill included as well as the site of a Boer prison camp. Transport is provided but you provide your food. The tour ends
with a walk from the central ridge at Goldmine to Rosemary Field, a distance of some 2 miles. This part is optional as transport is provided
to Jamestown from Goldmine. The duration of the tour is 5 hours.
Magma Tour C.
Sandy Bay Hike.
This is a hike of some 5 miles conducted by a local guide. Starting at Casons there is a visit to Fairyland Flax mill
. En route may be seen an early settler's cottage and a gumwood woodland. The tour ends at Thompson's Wood. Transport is provided to and from
Jamestown. The duration of the tour is 5 hours.
Magma Tour D.
Islan Fortress Tour
This tour takes in the fortifications of Jamestown, Ladder Hill, High Knoll, Sandy Bay, and Rupert's Valley.
It covers some spectacular scenery from High Knoll Fort with panoramic views of the island to the lunar landscape of the volcanic
basin and Sandy Bay. Transport and a guide are provided. The duration of the tour is 5 hours.
Magma Tour E.
Plants from an Ancient World.
The endemic plants of St.Helena are relatives of now extinct plants of Africa.
this makes the flora of St.Helena very special. This tour takes you to High Peak to see the restoration work being carried on in the area.
There is then a walk to White's nature reserve from Thompson Hill which is about 3 miles . The tour is on the rim of the central ridges. An islander with a specialist
knowledge of endemic flora is the guide. Transport is provided but visitors bring there own refreshments.
The duration of the tour is 5 hours.
