I have been interested in remote islands of the world for many years, especially the British Colonies. Most have their brief moment of history then sink back into obscurity. Notably the Mutiny on The Bounty and Pitcairn Island, Napoleon's exile on St. Helena, the volcanic eruption on Tristan da Cunha in 1961, the importance of Ascension Island in the Falklands war and the Vikings epics in Iceland. On a personal connection the vicar who married us in Milborne Port, Somerset, Reverend E.Buxton, was appointed minister on Tristan da Cunha a few years later.
