I was born near Guildford in 1945 and moved to North Dorset in 1955. I was educated at Hanford Girls School near Blandford and then at Monkton Wyld School near Lyme Regis. I studied Art at Yeovil Technical College and then specialised in Photography at Salisbury College of Art.

On leaving College I was employed at U.M.I.S.T. Manchester and then as a medical photographer in the Plastics Unit of Odstock Hospital, Salisbury.

I married John in 1969 and we have one son.
