This page is under contemplation on the back of an envelope.
But I've lost the envelope.
I'd like it back. Or do I mean 'I'd like its back?'
Er, um, please?
New envelope:
The beast in question is a (1959, if I remember correctly) Series IIA ShortWheelBase Hardtop, with a Ford 3 litre V6 Essex Engine.
The engine has to come out and be completely dismantled, as there is almost as much lateral movement in the pistons as there is vertical, and oil is getting expensive these days. Besides, the build-up of crankcase pressure keeps blowing the oil-filler cap off...
The intention is to convert the thing to run on LPG, so work will be necessary on the cylinder heads. While I'm about it, I might as well get the rest of the engine reconditioned.
Unless the engine I might be getting from a neighbour seems too good to mess about with.
The Land Rover has been standing outside for a few years, so a lot of work will be necessary. Believe me, you need have no fear of the job petering out. Money petering out, maybe, but naturally, I'll try my best to avoid that.
