Hällristningar - Rock Carvings
These are photos of some rock carvings we found in the Bohuslän area of Western Sweden on a trip there in 1996. A lot
of them had been recently restored with red dye, reconstructed to match traces found in the carvings, to make them look something
like they must have done at some point in the distant past (though whether this was truly original or added at a later date is
open to debate). The red colour certainly makes them easier to see and photograph though, and preserves the carvings a little from
erosion by acid rain...
