Marian is not co-operating, says having a web page is "sad",and so these pictures
are staying until she produces one of her own. (She does wear fairly ordinary clothes most of the time)
Whatever it is it is usually loud. Casting an eye over her stack of CDs I notice that Blur predominates, also prominent are Prodigy and Apollo FourForty. Evita (original stage cast - not Madonna) is there also Dire Straits and The Eagles ( both Tony's), The Pogues, Runrig and The Hooters (mine).
As she is now away from home this list is probably out of date, I did manage to rescue my CDs before she wrapped the tower in clingfilm prior to packing.
Reads a wide range from
Jane Austen
to the
Discworld
novels, and is a graduate of The Unseen University. Oscar Wilde is a favourite and she had read the Sharpe series before the TV series came on the air.
When she was revising for A Level:- History, English Literature, Art and Design and General Studies. I was informed that the WWW would be a very useful study aid but she has done all of one search (Prodigy) was not impressed with the results. I do however get asked "Mum, while you're there will you look for..........." I have discovered that
The History Channel
has some useful information and links and that
Toronto University
has a good site for Eng. Lit.
Hopefully a Degree in History from the University of St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland, where she is now studying.
- Access to the Web would have been useful at the university application stage as
UCAS
has a site (handy if school does not have enough handbooks to go round or for parents if the offspring are being typically uncommunicative. It includes
a map
and University links. Students Union pages are a good source of information, particularly if, like York, they include the
Alternative Prospectus).
