This is Jarlshof !!
By now you have probably pronounced Jarlshof the wrong way, but dont run off and sulk because everyone without a Shetland Dialect degree does do it! It is actualy said "yarlsof", so now we have got that out of the way I will tell you a bit about it. The archaeological remains of Jarlsof was descovered by accident almost 100 years ago when a big storm washed away a lot of top soil to reaveal the ancient and magnificent bronze age coastal settelment.once the top was revealed then many excivations later the true beauty of Jarlshof was revealed. When you visit Jarlshof you will find it easy to navigate around due to the many pathways and intresting signs to tell you about the site. Settlers were living in Jarlshof for over 8000 years before it was lost and redescovered so this site is well worth a visit.
