Name: ______________
- Complete: Speed is the rate of change of ____________
- Acceleration is the rate of change of ____________
- A car moving at 20mph increases its speed over a five second time
interval to 40 mph. What is the acceleration of the car in mph
s-1
In these questions, calculate the acceleration of each vehicle
- A car, from 0mph to 60mph in 20s
- Train, from 0mph to 100mph in 2 min 5 sec.
- F18 Jet from 0mph to 180mph in 1.5 seconds
- Electrons in a TV (cathode ray) tube are fired towards a fluorescent screen from an electron gun with a speed of about 6e+7ms-1. If they accelerate to this speed from rest in a time of about 1.6e-10s show that their acceleration is around 8.4e+17 mph/s. (Hint work out the acceleration in ms-2 first).
- What is the opposite of acceleration?
In these questions, calculate the accelerations in m
s-2
- From 2 m s-1 to 10 m s-1 in 4 s, acceleration = ?
- From 0 m s-1 to 15 m s-1 in 3 s, acceleration = ?
- From -1 m s-1 to +1 m s-1 in 2 s, acceleration = ?
