Episode Eight

Our walk - a nice walk this was, to finish off the trip. We drove the buses to Culswick, near Skeld and from there walked a mile or so through mist and rain until we came within sight of the remains of Culswick Broch. Blackly shifting in and out of view on the opposite hillside, the broch beckoned, daring us to approach its ramparts; once proud, now crumbling. Still, an impressive ruin, the broch is well worth a visit. For us, it provided a welcome shelter from the wind and drizzle. We had our packed lunches and brewed tea on the kelly kettle. This time someone even remembered the tea-bags! As if that wasn't a good enough end to the the trip, the Sun then appeared as we walked back, via two standing stones and a deserted settlement.

Well done and thank you to all who took part and helped with this trip. I'm looking forward to the next one already - but where will it be? What might be its theme?
