We got the bus loaded and rolled out at about 4:00pm, arriving at the Bod just after 5pm. The Bod was a tad warmer than the last time the camping group visited. After getting the gear out of the bus, we settled down to making tea - camping lentils. This was devoured by everyone (nearly) and was widely reported as being tasty (however not sufficiently so for me to have it cold for breakfast the next morning, unlike the haggis which served me well twice at Betty Mouat's earlier in the year). As the light faded, it started to get cold outside. So we got the fire going and gathered round for some scary stories and jokes from everyone.
We decided to take a walk up Lunkla burn to Lunkla water (near Voe). Beautiful scenery, light wind and a relatively warm day - good fortune had smiled on us yet again. Some interesting packed lunches were prepared and consumed, washed down with - well, not tea anyway, because "you know who" carefully forgot to put tea bags in the day sack yet again (just as at Fethaland). The highlight of the walk was the sphagnum moss fight, where everyone threw revolting green and brown slime, scraped from the bottom of the bog, over each other. Yes, civility, consideration and care in one's appearance figure highly on the camping group's mission statement.
