MATRICKS is a linear algebra package for purposes of research and
education. PLOT., a two dimensional plotting program running in high or
medium resolution. SUB-CAL, the Math Machine - a calculator with extras.
It will compute arithmetic expressions entered in human-readable form.
NUMBER CONVERTOR, converts between binary, decimal and hexadecimal.
TURING MACHINE SIMULATION, a simulation of a theoretical type of computer
first described by mathematician Alan Turing in the 1930's. Also on this
disk, but nothing to do with maths is a handy utility called CATALOG. It
will display up to 80 files/folders on screen.

by B.P. Tilley. A word search program with options that include 'EWord
Search'- searches for matches to incomplete word patterns. 'Anagram' -
tries to find anagrams containing all letters in input text. 'Target' -
Finds words conforming to rules of the Daily Express Target puzzle. 'All
Anagrams' - inds all anagrams contained in input text, regardless of
length. The program is fully working with a 42,000 word dictionary, but
the 'add word' function is disabled.

A six disk set which includes TEX the document processor and typesetting

A light synthesiser from Jeff Minter's 'Llamatron'. It plays light
instead of music and is not a sound-to-light system. There are many
levels of functionality, from editing patterns on the control panel
through to the mastery of the KML programming language. KML is an
8-channel parallel language which allows you to control all aspects of
the light synth, configure the keyboard as you require, control remote
machines and generate complete graphic animations. This is the shareware
version of the program. It is complete but you will probably need the

A working demo of a program by Aztec Software designed to assist people
learning to drive to master the highway code. This public domain version
has 30 questions plus information on how to register for the full
version.
M101 ROMAN MYSTERY (3 DISKS - £4.50 D/S)
A collection of programs for teaching students about Roman times. They
include a couple of programs written with the '3D Construction Kit' that
allow users to walk around and explore a Roman fort and a Roman wall. A
'Hangman' game with words relating to Roman Britain. A TCOS database that
allows pupils to examine and come to their own conclusions about a murder
that actually occurred in the 4th century in the Roman fort of
Housesteads. Finally, there is a whole host of graphic images for use
with DTP or classroom exercises.
M100 GERMAN TRANSLATORS
Three programs to translate German language text files into English. They
are STRANSLATE (V1.0) by David Harvey, TEXT TRANSLATION V.0.2 by Graham
Steel and GERMAN TO ENGLISH TRANSLATOR by Carlos Verela. These programs
function as bi- lingual dictionaries and are not intended as teaching
aids.

Educational programs for ages 5 to 10ish. 'Counting', count the number of
objects on the screen correctly and the cyclist pedals across the bottom
of the screen. 'Flash', gives a quick look at a word on a card then
challenges user to type it onto another. This time a rocket makes
progress if you're correct. 'Read', identify the object, then the word
and click on the matching word in an answer grid.

A collection of programs for young children by The Knowledge Vine. They
are 'About the House', a simple mouse controlled adventure program where
a butterfly is guided fluttering through a house to alight on various
objects which in turn brings up further sounds and pictures associated
with them. 'Butterfly in the Park', flutter around the park creating
activity wherever you go. 'Animal Match' a playable demo of a program
that teaches about animals and their habitats and 'Me First' where
children are challenged to put a series of action pictures into the
correct chronological order.
M94 PROFESSOR CLEVER (S/W) D/S (NOT TOS 1.62)
An educational program from Paul Wharton to teach children maths,
spelling and telling the time plus four simple games of hangman, pairs,
anti-bodies and skeets to keep them amused. The maths and spelling
section is split into quest- ions suitable for age groups 5 to 7, 7 to 9
and 9 to 11.
M93 STITCH MATRIX/PUNCHER
PUNCHER is a program to produce designs for knitting machines which use
punched cards, mylar sheets or intarsia patterns. It gives you control
over the exact width and height of each stitch when printed which ensures
your design canbe printed precisely the same size as your card or sheet.
STITCH MATRIX: If you do counted cross stitch, mosaic tiling,
needlepoint, hook rugs or any other craft that uses designs illustrated
with graph paper, this is the program for you!

Spectrum. This program computes gain, input and output impedance against
frequency of linear AC electronic circuits over the frequency range
0.01Hz to 1GHz.

A multiple language look-up system from Stuart Coates, author of the
Hitch- hikers PD disk (U.14). Multi-Lang is a desk accessory that allows
you to convert words between several different languages. It may be
configured to convert between up to nine languages and uses a disk-based
dictionary to save valuable memory.

A French language game/tutor that gives you a French word and then
challenges you to select the correct English translation from five
alternatives.

ST Vocab and Verbmaster from Academic Software. Working demo versions of
two foreign language tutorial programs which were rated at 85% by 'ST
Format' magazine. ST-Vocab teaches vocabulary and Verbmaster concentrates
on irregular verbs. The files in these demo version are French but the
commercial ersions cater for most modern languages and additional disks
are available from Academic Software.

by RemSoft Software. A working demo version that teaches, by use of
animated graphics, the art of making models by paper-folding. With this
demo version you are limited to making just one model, a bird, but if
you're suitably impressed there are instructions included on how to get

M86 DEATH OF A PRESIDENT D/S - 3 X DISKS £4.50
A three disk set by Jim Fanning examining that fateful day in 1963. Disk
1 is a photo database relating to the assassination of J.F.Kennedy.
Photos, information, maps as used by the Warren Commission. Disk 2 is an
audio database of digitised recordings that figured in the investigation.
A player program is included on the disk, but the samples are best used
with a sample player. Disk 3 is 'A day in Dallas'. You are on Elm Street.
President Kennedy has been shot. Move around the scene and talk to real
witnesses.

'Ainley Publishing and Communications' It will work either as a desktop
accessory or a standalone program and not only will it calculate the cost

on-screen isplay. Modem users are catered for by a facility allowing the
timer to be started and stopped by the carrier detect. This alone can
show you just how much bulletin boards
can send your 'phone bill towards the roof. The program is BT approved.
M79 COLOURSPACE D/S
Written by Jeff Minter and originally released commercially at £15.00,
Colour-space is a light synthesiser that allows its users to create
flowing, iridescent graphic effects on screen, and if they wish,
harmonise them to their favourite music. It is best played in a darkened
room with the music volume well up. The results can be truly spectacular.
As Jeff says, 'Your ears won't believe your eyes!'.
The program has been released as shareware and if you like it you are
asked to send £5.00 to the author. In return for this you will get the
Llamasoft news- letter, 'The Nature of the Beast', PLUS the complete
Colourspace manual AND a cool and spiffy sleeve for the disk.

by Adam D. Squibb. This is a sophisticated yet simple to use horse racing
analysis program. It has been designed with the sole aim of selecting
winners yet with as quick and easy data entry as possible (unlike most
programs of this kind). For example a race of 20 runners will take less
than 5 minutes to input. All you'll need to get started is a daily paper.
The program relies on form ratings so choose a paper with a good rating
service. During tests in January 1992 the program forcast the winners of
the following races: Newbury Gold Cup (15-2), Cheltenham Gold Cup (25-1),
Cheltenham Festival (14-1) and Cheltenham Festival (14-1). This demo
version of the program will allow input of races with up to ten runners.

A picture show program that displays photographs taken by various weather
satellites in orbit around the Earth. The disk also includes a satellite

It has been said that if you want a good spreadsheet program you couldn't
do better than choosing this one. It requires 1 meg of memory to run
correctly. It appears to be an amazing piece of kit to be found in the PD

M12 STUDY
No fantastic exam results are promised with this program, but it may just
give you the edge over the others. The program is intended to assist you
in learning things more easily. An example file to teach you a bit of
German is included. This is a mono program with an emulator supplied.

This program works a bit like a photofit kit. You can change facial
characteristics at will and can also make up an animated sequence of the

An educational program created with the STAC system. It is set around the
village of Calder, near Edinburgh and you must solve the clues to
discover the identity of the murderer. Whilst doing this you learn much
about the sources of information available to the modern historian. This
is an excellent program sup-plied on three single-sided disks for £4.50.
M 6 ASSORTED
STAR TREK: Numerous samples of digitised speech, characters voices and
sounds, from the USS Enterprise. SPEAKTEX: Type in any line of text you
choose and hear your ST read it back to you. MESSAGE WRITER: Make up your
own scrolling message with this easy to use program. The message can be
made to scroll vertically or horizontally.
M 5 2ND ST MANUAL
YOUR SECOND ATARI ST MANUAL: 250k of information in a text file to tell
you things about your ST that the original manual forgot. TEMPUS: A demo
of the handy text editor.
M 4 HOME ACCOUNTS NOT STE
This program is now too old to be useful. Look instead at disk PRO1 in
the Budgie section which superseded it.
M 2 KIDSTUFF
KIDGRAPH: a pattern making and colouring program. KIDGRID: another
colouring and pattern forming program. Finished screens in both the above
programs may be saved to disk. KIDMUSIC: A selection of children's
nursery rhymes. KIDNOTES: Follow the simple on screen help to play a few

PLANETARIUM: An excellent program which, once set up with the observers
position and the time and date, will give the positions of stars, etc. It
will also show positions of all the planets. There is a large data file
with info on all the stars on screen. If you have any interest in the
night sky, hen you must have this program. Easy to use.
